Harvey & Rita Build a RR

Reta and Harvey Mattison are building a new track on their property in Oklahoma. And since Reta’s recent retirement, they have made tremendous strides towards bringing that track online. Recently, they wrote of a work “weekend” and update on what has been accomplished. “On July 16 to 21, Curt Werner, Jack Haskins, and Walter Johnson brought Curt's trencher up from Terrell. They put in 155' of underground wiring and 70' of water line. Delbert and Rose Scott came on Wednesday and the 5 of them connected power to 2 feedthrough load centers and connected water to 2 frost-free hydrants. They also dug a 60' drainage ditch for a cut for the main line. Bill Blair came up and assembled 90' of main line track panels. To date we have most of the dirt work done for the 1300' inside loop with an 88' bridge (trusses courtesy of Terry McGrath). We are incorporating an 800' loop with a 22' bridge, around the pond dam. The combination will form a 2100' figure 8. A 4000' loop around this will be added in the future. Thanks to the late Lee Shriewer and to Delbert Scott we have a gravel tipple with a capacity of 2 yards, and a track base spreader with automatic leveling striker bar. A few of the workers we would like to thank for their contributions in the past 12 months are : Bill & Gwen Fondren, Delbert & Rose Scott, Jack & Betty Haskins, Walter Johnson, Curt Werner, Bill Blair, and Carroll Enders. Thanks also to the many others who have helped us over the years to get to this point. We have capabilities to accommodate track workers who want to donate their time and talents. All meals furnished. Thanks again, Harv and Reta
